Today we found out that we will be going forward with the sleep study. The dr is confident that Addyson us some type of sleep disorder. With that being said she’s hoping that starting addyson on iron infusions for her dangerously low ferritin levels will prove helpful for sleep, memory, attention, energy levels and more.
You can read more about iron infusions here. https://theironclinic.com/ironc/wp/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/Patient-information-for-iron-infusion.pdf
The dr said that Addyson would not be able to take the needed amount of iron tablets by mouth so infusions are a must. She also said we need to get to the bottom of why Addyson isn’t retaining the iron.
A friend asked me today if Addyson knows about the new plan of infusions. I told her yes, Addyson was at the appointment so she is aware. She used to do Iv infusions for her pots prior to the g tube so she is aware of what infusions entail. While is hates missing a day every so many weeks she understands it’s needed. I’m kinda torn. This friend and I discussed how well addyson handles all of this and how she doesn’t cry or throw fits about IV’s, meds, hospital stays, hospital visits, MRIs etc. yet it’s sad because she shouldn’t have to be so accustom to all of this. She shouldn’t have to think of this has normal. She shouldn’t be so good with Iv pokes and stuff. She goes back for her labs all by herself. She does it like a champ. No more mom/dad needed.
Addyson also restarted home hospital teaching today. Addyson was thrilled to have ms Yancey again. She really clicks well with her. It’s great when we find teachers/tutors that work so well with Addyson!
